How to get around the awkwardness of he said, she said in dialog and are other forms acceptable? For example: "Hi, my name is Cjad," said Cjad. OR "Hi, my name is Cjad," stammered the young man. I have read on a few writing 'help' sites that some editors will toss anything that isn't a 'said' derivative.
Looking at several novels and other published materials, it seems perfectly acceptable to use anything (that flows) and variety is the spice of life.
How do you write dialog?

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for stopping by my journal. I probably will not be making regular posts right now because I have so little freetime that keeping up a journal leaves that much less time to write stories. Feel free to comment and say hi. Thanks again, -Cjad
